On the Beaches of Capistrano

"I'm talking about a place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen."

Welcome to the Patin Palace - we're going strong - two weeks in a row now! Hope you are all doing well. We miss everyone who is far from us and we wish we could see all of you.

This past week we felt we took advantage of the great weather. Chicago was very lucky to have sunny skies and hot temperatures (for here), we spent as much time outside as we could! After 18 months and two summers, it still amazes us every time we step outside that we live in such a beautiful city. As we made our way to the beach on Friday, we were glad we didn't have to put up with the ridiculous amount of traffic everywhere! Allen went for a run along the lake at about 3 p.m. on Friday and people had already set up tents and marked their territory for the fireworks that didn't come on until 10. We packed a little picnic, and at about 8:30 strolled over to the lake. It was very pleasant. This is actually one of the only shots that came out clear that night. So, for all of your viewing pleasure...

For all of you that didn't feel like setting up camp and waiting around for 7 hours for the show, here is a clip of the final couple of minutes. It was quite spectacular.

As for what's in store for the week - Allen will be heading to Utah for a few days to join the other brothers-in-law of Heather's family for a hike/camp trip. He is looking forward to that, as he has never really seen much of Utah other than the lovely Provo..............

Hope you all have a great week, and remember, feel free to stop by the ol' Patin place anytime.

I love the quote. Just wait until Mike sees this post. Oh man he is going to laugh so much. I wish we could hang out at the beach with you guys! Save some Wii playing energy for when we get home... :)

If only you could have had some Oylerfication with you at the fireworks I'm sure your life would have been complete. Mostly we were sad that we were stuck here in Logan watching the poor excuse for fireworks that they put on here knowing that we should have been there with the Patins.
