My parents came into town a couple of weeks back and we all took a trip to Nauvoo. It had been 12 years since the last time our family made the trip. We stayed in the same little old "White House Inn" on main street and it was just as I remembered it. It was a quick trip so we crammed all we could into a day and a half, which worked out well since we were exhausted from lack of sleep due to my dad's crazy-loud bear snore! (love you dad) We got in a session at the temple which was pretty amazing since the last time I was there. In place of the empty field and original cornerstones was the gorgeous Nauvoo temple. It is now a beautiful representation of the hard work and sacrifice that the saints put into it so many years ago.
We visited many of the homes of the members of the church, my favorite by far being my 3rd great grandfather's home, Wilford Woodruff'. Unfortunately after building it, he was only able to live there for 30 days before the saints were driven out.
We played a couple of sweet pioneer games, check us out... It turns out Allen is amazing at pushing a metal ring around with a stick!
